soil consolidation works:

 
Engineering works used to perform deep foundations or retaining works of huge masses having a hydrogeological risk.
They consist of polyethylene drain pipes with circular section, which are inclined upwards of 10-20 degree and able to reach max depth of approximately 50 m.

The sub-horizontal drains are essential when the excess water may cause loss of strength and soil subsidence, especially in case of slopes.
Permeable resistant (they opposed their weight to the external stresses) and flexible structures, which are able to support the collapse of the laying surface.

The gabions are very used for the consolidation of unstable slopes, especially in the hillside, mountainous and fluvial contexts.
Indispensable technique to realize retaining walls and bridge abutments for major works as railways and highways.

Compared to the reinforced concrete the reinforced earth transfers less pressure on the foundation and in a more homogeneous way.

It is therefore earthquake-resistant and it needs not too deep foundations.
Drainage systems realized to dispose of the excess water from a soil, very useful in the consolidation works of slopes which are subject to landslides or not quite level grounds.
